"Poncho" ~ Andean Textile Ponchos

The “Poncho” is a Spanish word for what is basically a large square textile with a whole in the center for the wear's head. They have been used in the Andes for at least 500 years but perhaps longer. They are known to be useful while horseback riding and this is one reason the Spanish valued them so much.  The EthnoCO offers hand selected Ponchos of two types: one thick, rugged and extremely warm for everyday use, the other delicate, safe, light with intricate designs for show or ceremonial use.
